During my journey to Udaipur city, the city of lakes, I visited all the visiting places around it. It’s a beautiful place to visit in the west zone so far I visited. Being a tourism city there are lot of Restaurants and Hotels exists in the city. I went to many of the hotels as well as in the restaurants during this period.
I came to know about one more restaurant situated in the mid of the Udaipur city. It named “Bawarchi”, its image in the city is very good. It is situated at Delhi Gate circle which is very close to the bus stand so I did not have any trouble reaching the place.
For the last 17 years Bawarchi has been offering its services to the customers. It is one of the busiest Restaurant in the city, I realized this when I had to wait outside on the road for my dinner. This was fairly annoying but I decided not to loose my temper and waited for my number to get in. Finally I got the chance after 10-15 minutes.
What I saw was just amazing; the place was very crowded. The tables were small but enough for a family of four. Thali (plate) and Ala-carte were both available. Thali were of two types, one was Rajasthani and the other was Gujrati. The Thali was very inexpensive (Rs.55/- per head) and it included 4-5 vegetarian and one sweet dish. There was no limit on the number of breads/chappatis I ate. This Thali system was on the first floor and Ala-carte was on the ground floor. Chinese, Punjabi and Rajasthani dishes were available on order. An ala-carte meal normally costs around 100-120/- per head. It has two good competitors Daya and Meera in the neighborhood, they also had a similar crowd of people waiting outside and run the similar menus with small variations. Taste of the food is good too.
Overall experience was good and I would recommend Bawarchi to anyone looking for an economical tasty vegetarian meal in the heart of Udaipur city.
